The premise of the project is the 70% or higher possibility that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years. The anime will depict what would happen if an 8.0 earthquake took place. The story will center on Mirai, a middle school freshman girl who goes to Tokyo’s artificial Odaiba Island for a robot exhibition with her brother Yutaka at the start of summer vacation. A powerful tremor emanates from an ocean trench, the famed Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge crumble and fall, and the landscape of Tokyo changes in an instant. With the help of a motorcycle delivery woman named Mari who they meet on Odaiba, Mirai and Yutaka strive to head back to their Setagaya home in western Tokyo.

感想：
最近就非常爱看slice of life的动漫。虽然说[Tokyo]不是真正的Slice of Life, 但是故事描述得很真实。人物的个性很自然。就不会说是故意夸大或很假。
开始时，我们看到的两人是姐弟。姐姐Mirai就有着”弟弟很烦。这世界很腐烂。“等的负面思想。 弟弟Yuuki就如一般的小孩，蛮依靠姐姐。接着，意外发生了。他们就遇到一位大人(Mari)。这三人就开始他们回家的路程。
旅程中，他们遇到了不少人。有的失去了家人和朋友。其中一集让我很感动。是描述了一位奶奶误认Mirai和Yuuki为自己的孙女。后来某位带路的仪公人士过来，说老奶奶是他的老婆。但在以外中失去了孙女们。老公公就想为受害者们带路，为他们找到好好休息的地方。这不感人吗？
在最后一集里，观众才得知Yuuki其实已经死去了。陪Mirai到最后的是他灵魂。这回，我真是哭个稀里哗啦。Mirai比较懂事，也没以前那么令人讨厌。一直认为是弟弟依靠着姐姐，被她保护。但是，其实是姐姐被弟弟守护。弟弟为了不让姐姐担心，到最后一刻还是跟随着她。
到结局，Yuuki（英文：Tender hope; precious help）就如雪（日文：Yuki）似地消失了。Mirai(华文：未来）就像代表着人还是有未来，只要不放弃，未来是存在着。 Mari（英文：Truth and Reason)的名我就不太了解了。有可能是代表她让无知的小孩，尤其是 Mirai,了解不同人的存在的理由吧？
