常常在人過世之後之後，才開始從訃聞認識他們。
或許有些朋友也會有興趣和我一起認識他們。
最近又在訃聞開始認識一個精彩的人，一個美國左翼知識圈和運動圈的重要記者、學者、女性主義activist、文化評論家和搖滾樂評：Ellen Willis。、
她在許多左翼雜誌寫政治和文化評論，在NYU新聞學院創辦Cultural reporting and criticism program（看起來真有趣的program）。
她也是New Yorker的第一個流行音樂評論，並曾經幫Lou Reed寫過line notes。
他的先生是美國著名的勞工社會學家/工運activist Stanley Aronowitz---巧與不巧的是，我兩週才第一次聽他演講美國左翼運動的未來。
真的是遲了一步好好認識她。

Aronowitz不只是個勞工社會學家/工運activist（我想他搞不好不太喜歡人家說他是社會學家，因為他說sociology is dead），他還是個public intellectual, philosopher, great thinker, etc. 對文學、科學、哲學、食物、以及各種古怪的知識／學科都有廣泛的涉獵，幾年前代表綠黨參選過紐約州州長。
"How Class Works: Power and Social MOvement"這本書蠻不錯的，用各種關於食物的隱喻來討論階級，讓學術著作讀來沒那麼枯燥乏味。
