This is different from sponsoring a child.

A Hope Child is a child who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. He or she is also living in a community with a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS.

Sponsoring a Hope Child, as the name suggests, is to bring hope to the life of the vulnearable child.

I seriously don't understand how people can actually do such terrible acts to a child.

Don't they know that children are our future? Aren't we supposed to protect them? Nurture them? Give them all they need to grow into wonderful individuals?

Yeah, I know, that's too idealistic. Not all parents are wonderful individuals, what the heck do they care about their children becoming wonderful individuals? Even wonderful parents don't always do right.

And I know sometimes circumstances just force you to do things you're reluctant to. And with that, I mean parents selling their children because of extreme poverty. Still, why should your child pay? Why don't YOU go be a slave? Why don't YOU sacrifice? Isn't that part of your role as parents?

Sigh.
Sometimes I get this overwhelming feeling that the world is really sad. Like, why do humans have to be so complicated? Why do we make things complicated?

When that happens, I just look up in the clear sky, look at the birds flying freely, look at the clouds drifting carelessly... and corny as it seems, I think of the song "What a wonderful world".

The Earth is beautiful. The World, I'm not so sure, though I believe there are saints (mortal ones) somewhere among us all.

Anyway, I think I've lost track.
I actually just wanted to say, why does the article only applies to America? They should do it worldwide. I don't think patrons of child sex tourism are only Americans, ya?

Have you ever take a walk round the park, watch the children playing, and can't help but smile?
Have you ever been sat on a bus, falling asleep, and then suddenly jerk awake to see a very adorable toddler looking at you from the seat in front of you?
Have you ever wonder, how nice it will be to be a child again?

If you did, then you're probably as lucky as me.
To us, childhood was growing up in a protected environment.
To us, childhood was about playing, learning, and lots of laughter and hugs.

But to some, their childhood is not the same. They're forced to grow up quickly. They're never given a chance at education. They have to work, have to beg, have to collect whatever they can find at the dumpsters.

I think we all know what I'm trying to say.

World Vision Child Sponsorship

This is a promise to myself.
One day, when I'm financially stable, I will sponsor a child, and then another, and then yet another. Even if my income does not allow me, I won't stop promoting it.

Children are innocent. They shouldn't be suffering. At least, not for the unfairness in this world.
