綠色生活，是認真的地球公民努力的目標。
即使遇到像聖誕節這種超級節日，報紙上依然討論著，是每年到附近農場砍一顆聖誕樹好呢，還是用可以重複使用，但卻不能回收的塑膠聖誕樹呢？？
那，台灣跟這個有什麼關係呢?
節錄前些日子的報紙 The Gazette :
" But there are serious environmental concerns over artificial trees, which are often transported tens of thousands of mils from factory to living room. They might last long, but they eventually end up as landfill.
Made of plastic, their main ingredient is petroleum. And they don't biodegradable.
The vast majority of artificial trees are made of PVC under less-than-ideal environmental conditions in such countries as China and Taiwan. Lead is often used in the manufacture of PVC, to make it more flexible, to reduce fire risk and to stabilize color. Other materials ... include mercury and dioxins that offgas, or leach , from the material throughout its life cycle... "
生氣憤怒，台灣一向自覺環保和工業污染管制做的比對岸好。難道我們的產品只是 made in China 的另一個代名詞? 代表著 低環境管制，低工資，低品質管制，低社會責任?
Google 了一下，是的，我們的塑膠工業，讓台灣經濟起飛，可也讓環境嚴重受傷…工業污染，和其造成的農地，用水，海水，空氣等等污染。稻米裡的重金屬，水裡的重金屬，很多都是塑膠工業的副產品。
本來信誓旦旦覺得要寫信給報社的我，突然覺得不知道該怎麼辦了？本來很生氣這個報導，沒有適當的 citation 和證據，就說台灣的 less than ideal environmental condition...突然覺得，唉，或許也沒錯，我們的污染已經是不爭的事實，或許私心的覺得，我們做的比對岸好，但別人看來，似乎 made in China 和 made in Taiwan 沒有太大的差別...
