不過，在事業剛剛取得重大突破的時候，Sheryl Crow卻連連受到挫折，首先是和原來音樂團體中的一些合作者發生了矛盾，並且最終沒有得到改善，合作關係幾乎破裂了，而在這不久，Sheryl Crow的前男友，曾經對她有過重大幫助的Kevin Gilbert由於生活的不檢點，而被發現死在了家裏，不久之後合作夥伴也紛紛和Sheryl Crow發生矛盾，所謂的“Tuesday Night Music Club”團體也宣告解散了，曾經擔任Sheryl Crow製作人的Bill Bottrell也因為發生矛盾而各奔東西，Sheryl Crow獨自扛起了製作專輯的重任。隨後，Mitchell Froom和Tchad Blake成為了Sheryl Crow的主要音樂製作班子成員，而這兩人所帶來的一些搖滾音樂的經驗也對於Sheryl Crow的音樂發展有非常大的貢獻。



1996年發行的第二張專輯《Sheryl Crow》是一張Sheryl Crow非常個人化的專輯，從音樂的創作到演唱，經歷了頗多人生變化的Sheryl Crow對於音樂的理解和表現進一步的增強，這張專輯征服了幾乎所有聽眾，而此時Sheryl Crow的第二批合作夥伴也相對的固定下來，配合也越來越成熟了。這張專輯中的近半數單曲成為了優秀的打榜單曲，而專輯銷量也輕鬆的突破了300萬張，這是非常來之不易的，原因是由於Sheryl Crow在歌詞中帶有點名抵制美國零售業的霸主沃爾瑪公司(WalMart)廉價售貨店的內容，而沃爾瑪公司在所有的連鎖店和相關銷售商全部封殺了這張專輯。隨後的1997年，Sheryl Crow不僅開始自己的演唱會，還參加了著名的滾石樂隊(the Rolling Stones)的Bridges to Babylon巡迴演唱會，又響應了另一位歌星Sarah McLachlan的號召，參加了女權主義演出活動Lilith Fair，並且還為007系列電影創作了主題曲。1998年，Sheryl Crow的第三張專輯《The Globe Sessions》正式發行，這時Sheryl Crow的傳統搖滾和另類搖滾的風格已經頗為成熟，不過這張專輯和以往的兩張專輯相比卻在商業上略微下滑，雖然依舊是排行榜前十名，但是最終銷量卻只是達到白金而已。



1999年，Sheryl Crow為了好萊塢著名影星Adam Sandler的喜劇電影《Big Daddy》的原聲碟，而非常成功的翻唱了著名的搖滾樂隊槍炮與玫瑰(Guns N' Roses)的經典名曲《Sweet Child o' Mine》。隨後在紐約中央公園的演唱會上，Sheryl Crow邀請的嘉賓也是陣容豪華，包括Eric Clapton，Sarah McLachlan，Keith Richards以及the Dixie Chicks等大腕，並且在不久之後製作發行了現場專輯《Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live in Central Park》，不過這張專輯在商業上卻是幾乎失敗了。隨後的時間裏，Sheryl Crow不僅開始創作自己的專輯，同時也開始在其他歌星的專輯製作中擔任製作人，其中包括Kid Rock和Stevie Nicks等一流歌星。2002年，Sheryl Crow的第四張專輯《C'mon C'mon》正式發行，這張專輯不僅依舊獲得好評，而且連續第四張錄音室專輯銷量突破白金，同時也產生了多首有著非常出色打榜成績的單曲。2003年11月4日，Sheryl Crow發行了出道十年以來的第一張精選集《The Very Best of Sheryl Crow》。



2005年9月初，七次環法自行車賽冠軍朗斯•阿姆斯壯(Lance Armstrong)對外宣佈，他和Sheryl Crow已經訂婚。隨即，2005年9月27日，Sheryl Crow發行個人第五張專輯《Wildflower》。

迄今為止，Sheryl Crow個人一共獲得過九次格萊美獎。1994年度第37屆格萊美頒獎典禮上，Sheryl Crow憑藉首張專輯《Tuesday Night Music Club》和單曲的出色表現《All I Wanna Do》，一舉獲得了最佳新人(Best New Artist)，最佳流行女歌手(Best Female Pop Vocal Performance)和年度最佳唱片三項大獎(Record Of The Year)。1996年，Sheryl Crow自己創作，製作並演唱的第二張專輯《Sheryl Crow》以及其中的單曲《If It Makes You Happy》在第39屆格萊美獎中為她贏得了第一座最佳搖滾女歌手(Best Female Rock Vocal Performance)的獎盃，並且還奪得了最佳搖滾專輯獎(Best Rock Album)。1998年，Sheryl Crow的第三張專輯《The Globe Sessions》再次在第41屆格萊美頒獎上成為了最佳搖滾專輯的得主，同時她的工程技術人員還獲得了年度非古典類最佳工程專輯獎(Best Engineered Album - Non-Classical)。1999年，Sheryl Crow為電影《Big Daddy》翻唱槍炮與玫瑰樂隊的經典名曲《Sweet Child o' Mine》在第42屆格萊美頒獎中第二次獲得了最佳搖滾女歌手的獎盃。2000年，商業上失敗了的現場專輯《Sheryl Crow and Friends: Live in Central Park》中的單曲《There Goes The Neighborhood》令Sheryl Crow在第43屆格萊美頒獎中第三次獲得了最佳搖滾女歌手獎。在2003年年初舉行的第45屆格萊美頒獎中，Sheryl Crow憑藉專輯《C'mon C'mon》中的單曲《Steve McQueen》四度問鼎了最佳搖滾女歌手獎。事業輝煌的Sheryl Crow顯然不會停下奪獎的腳步，以後她的奪獎記錄肯定還將不斷的增添。
