1991年3月， Sony Music與Michael 簽立了一只六張專輯及超過十億美元的合約，準備在哥倫比亞製片廠中，專為Michael 成立一個"傑克森娛樂中心"，做為統合他一切音樂、電影、電視的指揮總部。隨著合約簽定的同時，另一人們所關切的消息便是Michael 新專輯的問世，完美主義的Michael，卻使得發行的日期一再地更改延期，使得喜愛他且引頸期盼四年的樂迷心急不已。



Dangerous 專輯， 11月 26日在全球同步發行，這張長達76 分鐘的專輯收錄了14首歌曲，其中12首歌的詞曲創作是由Michael Jackson 個人獨力或與他人合力完成。此外，Michael 還親自與Teddy Riley、Bruck Swedien 及Bill Bottrell 等人共同擔任所有歌曲的製作之職，與以往皆由Quincy Jones製作的專輯風格，有著極大的不同－－除了舞曲、 RAP 與搖滾曲風之外，融合了FUNKY 及不曾在以往作品中出現的福音歌曲及大編制唱詩班與交響樂編排，氣勢磅礡而多樣化，令人讚嘆不已。 專輯封面與以往純以 Michael 人像設計有所不同，改以高度技巧的噴畫藝術構圖，不僅鮮豔精彩，且富有高度創意。此外，以電影〔藍絲絨〕、〔我心狂野〕及電視影集〔雙峰〕而聞名的美國導演大衛‧林區受邀為此張新專輯拍攝了30秒廣告片。



Black Or White這首融合了搖滾、舞曲及饒舌等多樣風格的首支單曲，邀來美國當紅重金屬搖滾樂團Guns N' Roses 的吉他手 Slash 擔任吉他演奏，歌詞乃是探討種族問題，與其上張專輯中的Man In The Mirror 同樣表達關懷社會的心。這支單曲長達11 分鐘的Video 耗資四百萬美金製作完成，由John Landis 擔任導演（曾任1983年Thriller的音樂錄影帶導演），邀來了電影〔小鬼當家〕的男主角邁考利克金參與演出，美國當紅的卡通劇"辛普森家庭"裡的主人翁之一，Bart Simpson亦會在此Video出現，果然Black Or White發出石破天驚爆發力拿下全美Billboard單曲榜七週冠軍，受到樂迷空前喜愛及支持。
