Carly Simon (1945- )﹐ 原名Carly Elisabeth Simon﹐生於紐約﹐自小受家庭的音樂薰陶﹐父親尤喜愛古典音樂﹐家中有兩個姐姐及一個弟弟。1964年與姐姐 Lucy組成The Simon Sisters﹐並且灌錄了3張專輯﹐當中的Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod較為著名。之後 Lucy結婚﹐Carly惟有作單飛發展﹐並於1971年在 Elektra推出首張專輯﹐首張單曲That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be 打入 Billboard 流行榜第10位﹐成績不俗﹐並於同年獲得 Grammy Award的最佳新人獎。事業來到癲峰﹐乃是因為1972年單曲 You’re So Vain ﹐它成為她事業至今最好成績的單曲﹐得到 Billboard流行榜冠軍達3星期﹐這一年她也下嫁了民歌手 James Taylor ﹐從1972-1979年間兩夫婦合作無間﹐Carly更為 James無數歌曲合聲。



1977年她為 James Bond電影The Spy Who Loved Me主唱主題曲Nobody Does It Better ﹐此曲也成為她音樂事業第二張最好成績的單曲﹐得到 3星期 Billboard流行榜亞軍。1979年製作完成 The Spy專輯後﹐即從 Elektra轉到 Warner旗下﹐然而在Pittsburgh的一次演出﹐她過度透支而險些整個人崩潰下來﹐自此整個80年代﹐她絕跡於現場表演。1980年及1982年﹐為芝麻街的兩張 In Harmony專輯客串﹐該兩張專輯由Carly的姐姐 Lucy及其夫婿David Levine監制﹐並且得到 Grammy Award的最佳兒歌唱片。

1983年與 James Taylor離婚﹐並於1985年加盟 Epic唱片﹐可惜銷售量奇差﹐使令唱片公司發了一張專輯後﹐即跟她解約。幸好 1987年﹐Arista與她簽約﹐也與 James Hart再婚﹐並為分別於電影 Coming Round Again及 The Working Girl主唱主題曲 Coming Round Again及Let The River Run﹐事業再見起息﹐後者更得到 Academy Award的最佳歌曲﹐這使她的音樂事業在電影配樂中發展了一條新出路。1995年由 Arista出版了一套3張CD的 Clouds in My Coffee Boxset ﹐橫跨了數間唱片公司的版權﹐紀錄了她由1965-1995的30年音樂片斷。
