『Bette Midler(貝蒂米勒)』除了在電影『Ruthless People(家有惡夫)』，飾演為愛瘋狂減肥，努力進行改造的喜感角色，也有像『Beaches(情比姊妹深)』，敘述真摯情誼，感人肺腑，令人動容的作品，自1972年，以首張專輯『The Divine Miss M』獲得葛萊美獎『最佳新進藝人』，Bette Midler就跨足電影、電視、唱片及百老匯舞台劇，1979年，主演『The Rose(歌聲淚痕)』榮獲金球獎影后肯定，同名歌曲於1980年獲得Billboard流行單曲榜三週季軍、年終單曲榜Top10及成人抒情榜冠軍，並賣出百萬佳績，而至今仍被選為西洋樂壇最佳的歌曲之一。1988年，Bette Midler主演『Beaches(情比姊妹深)』並獻唱電影主題曲『Wind Beneath My Wings』，該曲原由Sheena Easton(席娜伊斯頓)及Roger Whittaker(羅傑惠塔克)於1982年首次灌錄，Bette Midler重新翻唱後，獲得廣大迴響，1989年6月10日登上Billboard流行單曲榜冠軍、年終單曲榜Top7與成人抒情榜亞軍，拿下一座葛萊美『年度唱片』獎，並成為百萬單曲，2002年根據英國一份調查顯示，『Wind Beneath My Wings』成為葬禮播放率最高的歌曲，2004年由美國電影學院(American Film Institute)所公佈的『百年最佳歌曲』，『Wind Beneath My Wings』名列四十四名，而『The Rose』則獲得第八十三名。



1990年，Bette Midler推出睽違五年的錄音室作品『Some People's Lives』，百萬單曲『From a Distance』又是一首翻唱作品，這首由美國歌手Julie Gold所譜寫的作品，1987年首先收錄於Nanci Griffith的『Lone Star State of Mind』專輯，1990年正值波斯灣戰爭年代，『From a Distance』強調世間萬物共生共存的和諧景象，恰巧撫慰了當時處於動盪不安的戰亂人民，一發行即獲得Billboard流行單曲榜亞軍、成人抒情榜六週冠軍、英國金榜Top6及澳洲金榜Top8，1991年該曲獲得葛萊美『年度歌曲』獎。1998年，為梅莉史翠普和芮妮齊薇格所主演的電影『One True Thing(親情無價)』演唱的『My One True Friend』，又是一首真情佳作。
