1984年，為電影《紅衣女郎》所創作的 一曲《電話訴衷情》（I Just Called to Say I Love You）不但是當年全美全英排行榜冠軍，也是汽車城唱片在英國最賣座的一張，在2002年的英國歷代最佳銷量排行榜上，榮獲第十三位。為其代表作。1985年又推出《短暫情人》（Part-Time Lover）榮登全美排行榜榜首。Stevie Wonder終於發揮出天才的稟賦。

史提夫•汪達是美國流行樂壇二十多年來最有影響的音樂家之一。他的作品有很強的思想性和流行性，是黑人搖滾和汽車城音樂Motown的重要代表。

史提夫•汪達不但自己創作出大量優秀作品，他還為很多歌手製作音樂，作曲。代表作有為Smokey Robinson & The Miracles 創作的《The Tears of a Clown》，為The Spinners創作的《It's a Shame》，為麥可•傑克遜創作的《I Can't Help It》，還有Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway的《You Are My Heaven》， Rufus & Chaka Khan的《Tell Me Something Good》。此外他還與很多著名歌手合作過。如昆西•瓊斯，芭芭拉•史翠珊，克里夫•里查德，B.B. King，誘惑樂隊等。



到目前為止史提夫•汪達有9首單曲成為美國年度排行冠軍曲，獲得過「最佳R&B男歌手」、「最佳流行男歌手」、「最佳專輯」等22座格萊美獎，及一座奧斯卡最佳電影歌曲獎，及2004年度公告牌獎（Billboard）之世紀成就獎。（Century Award）。唱片銷量超過7000萬張。創作了大量膾炙人口的音樂作品。為美國樂壇一致公認的「國家一級人物」。
