由於「Sometimes When We Touch」的成功，丹希爾在1982年應邀為席維斯史特龍（Sylvester Stallone）的電影「第一滴血」（First Blood）演唱主題歌「It's a Long Road」，讓影迷們留下了深刻的印象。不過，儘管他陸續又有一些暢銷曲，基本上他還是叫好多於叫座，甚至在80年代中期還一度讓人以為他已經消失了。



直到1987年，他和後來因為主唱電視影集「艾莉的異想世界」（Ally McBeal）插曲而走紅的女歌手芳達夏普（Vonda Sheppard）合唱的「Can't We Try」才再度讓他打進前十名，獲得第六名。在他前後二十多年的音樂生涯中，雖然他總共只有六首歌曲打進過排行，但是其中這首「Sometimes When We Touch」卻已經堪稱經典，這是沒有人能夠否定的。
