When you think of Miaoli, what is the first thing you think of? Yes, it must be strawberry. The red and delicious strawberries in Dahu are the most famous strawberries in Taiwan. You can buy many delicious strawberries in Dahu. Besides, you can also pick your own strawberries in the strawberry farms. Many farms provide people picking strawberries on their own. Miaoli County Government also builds Strawberry Culture Museum and Dahu Wine Village. You can understand more about the strawberries, and you can buy all kinds of strawberry products here, for examples, strawberry wines, strawberry milk and strawberry ice cream.
當你來到苗栗，什麼是你最先想到的呢？沒錯，一定是草莓。大湖又紅又美味的草莓是台灣最有名的草莓。你可以在大湖買到美味的草莓，除此之外，你也可以自己到草莓田裡採草莓，許多草莓園提供人們自己採草莓。苗栗縣政府也建了草莓文化館及大湖酒莊。你可以瞭解更多的草莓，你也可以在這裡買到各種草莓製品，例如草莓酒、草莓牛奶和草莓冰淇淋。
Shei-Pa National Park is located in the northern Taiwan. The two highest mountains inside it are Sheishan and Dapajian. Shei-Pa National Park is named after the two mountains. The park includes Wufong Shaing and Jing-shr Shaing in Hsinchu County, Taian Shaing in Miaoli and Hoping Shaing in Taichung County. It is a high-mountain national park. There are some visitor centers in the park, and we took a rest in Wenshui Visitor Center.
雪霸國家公園位於北台灣。在裡面最高的兩座山是雪山和大霸尖山，雪霸國家公園是根據這兩座山而命名。這公園包括新竹五峰鄉、尖石鄉，苗栗泰安鄉以及台中和平鄉。他是個高山型國家公園。公園裡也有一些遊客中心，我們停在汶水遊客中心休息一下。
There are some old streets in the Miaoli County. We went to Chingan Old Streets and Nanjuang Old Streets. Chingan Old Street is famous for its tofu, as a result, it is also called Tofu Street in Ching-an. We also had some wild boar meat there. It had different flavor from the pork. Najuang Shaing is a Hakka rural area. We had many delicious Hakka cuisines there.
在苗栗有一些老街。我們去了清安老街和南庄老街。清安老街以豆腐聞名，因此她也被稱為清安豆腐街。我們也在那吃了一些野豬肉，味道和豬肉不同。南庄是客家鄉村，我們在那裡品嚐了許多美味的客家菜。
It was the last night of 2005. We decided to stay at Nanjuang and had a count down party. We drank tea, chatted and watched stars in the balcony of the guest house. At the last moment of 2005, we shouted out loud from ten to one and “Happy New Year” to each other. We also lighted “fairy sticks” and waved them happily. It was a lot of fun, especially when many good friends got together.
這晚是2005年最後一晚，我們決定留在南庄開跨年倒數晚會，我們在民宿的露台上喝茶、聊天看星星，在2005最後一刻，我們大聲地從十數到一，對著彼此叫「新年快樂」。我們也點燃仙女棒，高興地揮舞著他們。這真是有趣，尤其當許多好朋友聚在一起時。
On the first morning of 2006, we visited the Shibi Dyeing and Weaving Workshop. The owner, Ms. Lin Shu Li, taught us how Taiya women weave clothes and introduced us to appreciate the culture of Taiya tribe.
在2006年的第一個早晨，我們拜訪了石壁染織工坊。工坊主人，林淑莉女士，教導我們泰雅女人如何織布，並介紹我們去欣賞泰雅族的文化。
We went to Siangtienhu in the afternoon. There are now twelve aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. Saisait Tribe is one of them. Small Spiritual Idols Worship, which is held at the side of Siangtienhu, is the distinguishing feature of the Saisait Tribe. Saisait people hold Small Spiritual Idols Worship every two years. They dance solemnly and confess to the small spiritual idols. However, we didn’t have the luck to see them dancing. We just walked around the Siangtienhu, and enjoyed the beautiful scenes. Saisait Folk Custom Museum was closed that day and we all felt sorry about it. Fortunately, the scene was so beautiful that we took a lot of pictures there.
我們下午去了向天湖。台灣現在有十二族的原住民，賽夏族是其中之一。在向天湖畔舉辦的矮靈祭是賽夏族的特色。賽夏族每兩年舉辦一次矮靈祭，他們莊嚴地跳舞，對矮靈懺悔。然而，我們並沒有運氣看到他們跳舞，我們只走路環湖，享受美麗的風景。賽夏民俗文物館那天也關館，我們都覺得很遺憾。幸運地是那風景很美，因而我們在那拍了許多相片。
