關於安潔拉‧卡特的對談

──唉，可惜不是「與」安潔拉‧卡特對談。其實呢我曾經興致勃勃提出卡特降靈會之類的主意（並自告奮勇充當現場翻譯），這一定很合安潔拉阿姨口味的，對不對，不過編輯大人一個十分合理的問題問得我無言以對：「那誰來當靈媒？」（……默）

　　很巧的，去年底連著接到兩份邀約，讓我一次在大學課堂上、一次在雜誌採訪中，以「資深譯者」的身份大放厥詞，對在場的同學或假設的讀者說明一下行內的大致運作方式和實務問題──亦即所謂「專業知識」。但是當然，我們都知道，好的老師帶你上天堂，不好的老師害你變成文藝青年，有一些可能不那麼光明燦爛理想夢幻的東西平常是不好隨便拿出來嚇人的，不過秉持平衡報導的精神，有時候還是需要哪個吃飽了撐著的傢伙扮演一下魔鬼代言人之類；倒是請大家聽得逆耳之處不必急著 shoot the messenger，反正這 messenger 本身恐怕也已經力竭汗喘、殆欲斃然啦。
