Michael Arrington說: 雅虎奇摩最好多賺點錢這樣我可以少繳點税

今天上午受邀參加了資策會主辦的Web 2.0交流座談會，第一場由Web.2.0觀察家
Michael Arrington主談，大家發問挺踴躍的，大部分的問題都是繞著 "台灣市場太小了，Web 2.0搞的起來，我能獲利嗎?" 或是 "雅虎奇摩太大太強了，只要它想，一天就可以殺死一個網站，那我還該拼下去嗎?" 之類的問題，Michael的回應挺有趣的，他說雅虎奇摩是美國公司耶，它賺的錢都會繳回美國總公司繳稅，最好多賺一點讓我能少繳點稅，你們為什麼不發揮一下愛國心支持本土網站呢，想想看，美國的車這麼爛還不是在美國賣的嚇嚇叫。
基本上我覺得Michael Arrington對台灣的市場是沒有一點概念的，他憑直覺說他認為一個有兩千三百萬人口的地區不該一值講自己的市場小，以及雅虎有什麼好怕的，你就拼命的作一些很棒的服務網友就會靠過來，某一天大網路公司就給你一大筆錢收購你的公司。他哪知道，其實這一千萬上網人口只製造出了每年一億美元的網路廣告市場，其中雅虎奇摩拿走了大約一半，比起美國的一百多億美元實在是小小小，他一定也不知道，台灣的網路廣告CPM只賣五 (15cents USD) 到二十五元 (75cents USD) 台幣，比起他的TechCrunch網站一個月約兩百多萬的網頁瀏覽量，可以賣至少六萬美元的廣告 (右上角那六個banner，加上他還能賺到至少幾千美元的Google Adsense)，CPM可是價值30USD，這種
部落格媒體價值也是台灣的不知道幾十倍。另外，更別提台灣沒有人會把你買走，你最好想清楚你能怎麼自己賺到錢養活公司的員工。
無論如何，雅虎奇摩在台灣很強是事實，網路廣告市場小也是事實，哀鳴並不會有任何幫助，只能祈求如果有人作出了比雅虎奇摩更好的服務或內容，希望網友能賞光衝衝流量，激勵滿腔熱血的創業朋友們繼續加油，希望大家都能夠有出頭獲利的一天。

今天和jason聊天，發現了一個很殘酷的事實。早上的座談會，實際運作web2.0的台灣成員，除了hemi還是hemi。彷彿大家都等著看hemi的成功與否，這種感覺實在不好，這讓我回想到，我大學時代創立校園電子報時，所有的社團和學校單位都說好。但實際上大家都等著看你端出什麼東西，實在很孤獨與無奈...
好奇的是，台灣的 web2.0 公司應該不少。智邦 MyShare 不屬於網路創業，其他應該還有幾個創業型的 Web2.0 服務。他們沒有上台亮亮相嗎？
泡沬化後其他入口網站都停了免費郵箱，
造就了Yahoo奇摩的絕對競爭優勢。
它很希望你創新，等到時機成熟時，
再跳出來接收就可以了。
然後再感謝有人幫它先教育市場...
按照目前的遊戲規則它是穩贏的，但未來還很難說，
打破Web規則並解構了入口首頁的優勢，就有生機。
我們現在還不了解將成立的Google台灣分公司的目標，
只要它能稍微挪動一點版圖，則遊戲還有得玩。
我覺得不是台灣雅虎太強, 而是對手太弱了
以韓國來說, 韓國網站的創意跟生命力都非常強盛, 強盛到韓國雅虎在當地只能在五名左右排徊
雅虎在很多國家都不是當地最大的網站
就算沒有了雅虎, 現在台灣網站有多少是真的好到夠吸引人的?

對手只想搶電子商務，完全放手讓Yahoo奇摩長大。
現在可吃到苦頭了。
