Having been thinking about pursuing a career of teaching English to adults for a long time, I thus start to prepare for GEPT. Compared to other langauge tests like tofle, I think GEPT is relatively easy. It doesn't emphasize on academic lanaguage and writing, which are the keys to get a good scoure in tefle; instead, its topics in all four sections (listening, speaking, reading, writing) focus more on daily conversation, or things that you are familiar with.
The writing section of the high intermediate level has two parts, one is English- into- Chinese translation, usually focusing on words and phrases that you use in everyday life, and the other part is writing a 150-180 eesay. The main points you need to bear in mind to succeed in the text are first, well-developed structure: state your main idea, give reasons, then use one or two examples to support your reasons, then follow a short conculsion. Second, a topic sentence at the beginning of each part; remember to mentions the most inportant thing at the first place. Minor errors like spelling or puctuation are allowed. Below are my practice in this section.
