林肯兩百週年冥誕‧戲院重開張
美國總統林肯於1865年遭暗殺的華盛頓的福特戲院，在經過五千萬美金的整修計畫後重新開張。
該戲院每年吸引約十萬觀光客前來，其功能比起娛樂更像是個殿堂。
這個整修不只是為了記下林肯於1809年2月12的兩百週年誕辰，也是因為第44任總統歐巴馬時常在引用並讚賞，而讓這個第16任總統再度受到注目。
歐巴瑪總統1月就職的時候，使用林肯當年宣誓就職的同一本聖經，並且重現林肯當年部分的火車就職之旅，作為自己的行程之一。
他也與林肯當年擔任總統時所面臨的國家危機與尋找統一之法，有不少歷史上的相似處。
歐巴馬在周三戲院重開儀式中演說時，也大大讚賞林肯對於分裂的國家應再次完整的信念。
歐巴馬說道「儘管一些使我們不同的事物：南方人與北方人、黑人或白人，林肯都有堅定的信念，相信所有人在心中都是屬於一國及同一種人。」
歐巴馬表示，林肯對於教育和藝術的熱情，使他把劇院當成使這些熱情滋長的「聖地」。
自從林肯的暗殺之後，福特戲院就有過相當豐富的歷史。
但是許多觀光客並不會發現他們看到的舞台、和當時林肯被演員約翰威克斯伯斯射殺所在的總統包廂都是複製品，而不是原始物。
福特戲院經理說道「我認為這裡的東西是重製的事實並不會造成任何的影響。首先，重製的物品出色到你會覺得自己身在林肯當時所在的地方。 」
「總統被殺了」
總統包廂內的空椅子，紅白藍相間的布簾和林肯總統的肖像，明顯在劇院中佔有相當的分量。
肖像的邊框上有個小小的剉痕，是伯斯從包廂逃離時被靴刺刮到的。
特崔奧說道「你看的出那個晚上事情如何戲劇性的發展。
槍聲響起，包廂中出現騷動，然後約翰威克斯伯斯跳上舞台，將手上的刀子舉起並且大喊'Sic semper tyrannis'(永遠打倒暴君) 接著跑了出去。
然後你當然就從包廂中聽到 "我的天!他們殺了我先生。總統被殺了。"」
戲院在接下幾個月被迫關門，接著被轉成辦公所。三十年後地板崩塌，殺死22名工人並傷及68人。
該建築被修復，然後到1920年代都持續被當成辦公室使用，到那時已完全毀損了。
一直到1960年代戲院才重新開幕，這是第一次的整修工程。目前的整新是恢復於1960年代做出的複製品。..........

埃及新發現木乃伊密室
新密室發現於開羅附近
埃及考古學家挖掘出一個藏有超過20尊木乃伊、起碼兩千六百年前的密室。
埃及的首席考古學家薩伊哈瓦斯表示，在沙垮拉挖掘處還發現到八個木頭及石頭棺材。
有一個以灰漿密封的石灰岩棺材據信年代久達四千年。
儘管開羅南部的沙垮拉墓場之挖掘已經進行幾十年之久，新發現確是很少見的。
記者表示如此未受破壞的埋藏點被發現是非常罕見的。
哈瓦斯說，木乃伊中有22個是被發現在一排牆壁的壁龕之中，是屬於一個估計西元前640年的古墓之中。
依據政府發表的聲明，有一個木棺自古早時代就尚未被打開，但一名官員相信古代盜墓者也許已經將其掠奪一空。
目前唯一一個被打開的棺木中有發現一尊木乃伊，而考古學家表示他們預期在其他棺木中能找到更多的木乃伊。
哈瓦斯表示埃及的古老遺跡中還有約70百分比待人發現。
