Diploma in Legal Studies - University of Hong Kong SPACE
The Diploma is a part-time programme based on Hong Kong law and Hong Kong legal practice. It prepares students for further academic training in law, legal practice and for future career development. The course has been specifically designed to assist students to develop the academic and practical skills needed to work in the legal field. Comprehensive course materials supported by regular classes together with written assignments throughout the programme are provided with the aim of educating students to a level where they can successfully progress to further legal studies.

Programme Structure
This programme has a flexible structure offering multiple exit points. Students can elect to enrol on either:
- the Certificate in Legal Studies (Year 1);
- the Diploma in Legal Studies (Year 2) for which completion of the above Certificate is a pre-requisite; or
- individual Modules from either of the above programmes. (Student cannot claim the CEF by individual modules except module 10)
Students can complete the Diploma over a maximum period of 5 years.

Certificate in Legal Studies (Year 1)
(5 modules; 30 hours each):
Module 1: Hong Kong Legal System and Legal Method
Module 2: Civil Procedure 1 and 2
Module 3: Law of Obilgations 1 and 2
Module 4: Employment Law and Business Practice
Module 5: Hong Kong Basic Law
Diploma in Legal Studies (Year 2)
(5 modules; 30 hours each):
Module 6: Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure
Module 7: Land Law and Conveyancing
Module 8: Family Law and Matrimonial Practice
Module 9: Law of Succession and Probate Practice
Module 10: Introduction to China Law

Assessment
- Assessment is based on coursework, examinations and a 70% attendance.
- The Diploma provides access routes to further legal students with reputable academic institutions.
- Diploma holders working in a solicitor's office may use the term Legal Executive as a professional title.
