艾薇兒是個很清楚自己想要什麼的女孩。在她創作第三張專輯「The Best Damn Thing」時，她的腦海中已經有了非常明確的目標：就是要很好玩。

當艾薇兒在2004年為了她上張專輯「Under My Skin酷到骨子裡」巡迴表演的時候，艾薇兒就發現她比較偏好表演速度與節奏較快的歌曲，於是，她決定錄製一張能捕捉她在舞台上盡情宣洩、衝勁十足、火力全開的超高能量專輯。

「The Best Damn Thing」盛滿了熱騰騰的吉他節奏、琅琅上口的熱鬧副歌、強力流行龐克、以及叛逆的搖滾態度。這和調性灰暗內斂的「酷到骨子裡」專輯大大不同，而在一些像是跟劈腿男友說掰掰的“Everything Back But You”之類的歌曲裡，就像她所說的---這次的歌詞靈感不是「來自我的日記」，而是出自她構思出的虛構情節。從優美、有力的“I Can Do Better”（艾薇兒最喜愛的歌曲之一）到超高能量的首支主打“Girlfriend ”---將嘻哈節拍與強而有力的副歌、拍手聲以及女生團體合唱結合在一起，又在其中注入龐克搖滾。再到艾薇兒為福斯電影公司的冒險魔幻片「Eragon龍騎士」所特別創作的情感盈溢抒情曲“Keep Holding On”。艾薇兒極參與專輯的每一個創作階段：從獨立譜寫自己的歌曲（「我在創作這張專輯裡的歌曲時，身邊沒有唱片公司的人來左右我的意見。」她特別強調，「我非常清楚我要什麼樣的音樂。」），到選擇製作人和合作夥伴，再到錄音室琢磨吉他和鼓聲，艾薇兒都親自悉心參與，只為製作一張有史以來最棒的作品。

【Girlfriend 】8國語言新專輯不收錄

睽違歌壇三年的艾薇兒大走國際路線，【Girlfriend】為了表達對世界各地歌迷的感謝，在副歌部份分別錄了的中、日、西班牙、法、德、義大利、葡萄牙文，加上原本的英文共8種語言版本，大討歌迷歡心。外語版【Girlfriend】不做實體發行，也不收錄在新專輯當中，ezPeer+成為台灣地區獨播媒體，歌迷只要上網www.ezpeer.com，將可搶先收聽。

艾薇兒首次嘗試用中文演唱【Girlfriend】，讓廣大華語歌迷驚喜，主要的英文部分不變，副歌卻是完全用中文唱出來的。日前，在接受國外媒體採訪時，艾薇兒表示中文版歌詞的靈感來源於丈夫的前女友，其中一段唱著：「你需要一個新的，我會是你的女朋友，我只讓你喜歡我，這不是一個秘密。」艾薇兒用歌詞大膽示愛，不分語言！
