今天進行我的最後碩士研究檔案訪談資料分析時，MSN傳來好友Kary的訊息: 紐西蘭觀光局關了! 我上網查了一下新聞，找到這篇 "市場萎縮，紐西蘭取消在台旅遊局" 。閱畢後心中不免驚訝與感傷。 我與Kary都曾任紐西蘭觀光局台灣辦公室的專案代表一職，她是我在紐西蘭觀光局的前輩，現為榮獲紐西蘭旅遊專家金獎認證的台華旅行社經理，對紐西蘭可說是鍾愛不已。因此，這個消息對我來說是一種失落，我想對她也是如此吧!

由於昨天為了研究的訪談約會(被放鴿子><，下次有空再說說)，於7/26、7/27週六日兩天的Sunderland International Airshow，只好改在今天前往觀賞。因為昨天海邊表演現場的奇怪大霧，ELLE她們敗興而歸，沒看到飛機只看到一堆人! 今天我出門前有聽BBC NEWCATSLE 電台，現場直播超high的啦! 心想今天一定看得到啦~~~於是就跟路姐約啦一路做metro到Sunburn站看飛機!!!

妹妹實在是太思念姐姐了，於是參加了台灣民間習俗"觀落陰"，在法師的儀式引度下，妹妹順利地走向地獄......。
走著走著，卻發現路邊有一為婦人蹲踞在一桶桶的餿水旁，吃著發酸發臭的廚餘。走近一看，妹妹卻驚覺那是: 姊姊!
妹妹: 姐姐，我來看你了，為什麼妳在這邊吃著餿水? 我不是燒了好多的冥紙給你 在陰間買好東西吃嗎?
姊姊: 妹妹，你有所不知，根據陰間的規定，人在生前浪費食物沒吃完的餿水，死後必須全部吃完才可以享用好吃的食物啊!
妹妹: 可是，姐姐，為什麼你有這麼多桶的餿水?
姊姊: 喔! 妹妹你有所不知，我的餿水快吃完了，剩下那一大堆都是你的啦~~~

1. INTRODUCTION

‘’Don’t speak ill of somebody!’ is one of the first English phrases I learnt about the word ‘speak’ in junior high school. However, ‘gossip’ seems even popular than ever before. With the assistance of mass media, such tabloid magazines and newspapers as OK, HELLO, CLOSER in the UK, people can gossip more topics rather than their neighbours. Interestingly, gossip appears to be common among different societies. For example, the Hong Kong sensational newspaper, Apple Daily, has become one of the most circulated newspapers in Taiwan since launched in 2003 although it has been criticised by it nature of gossip (Chen, 2005).
This interest about others motivates me to explore the process of communication occurring in gossiping. The present essay tries to depict how academics define gossip from different angles in different contexts, to understand why people gossip and the functions it provides, and to recognise the structure of gossip and how it happens. In the conclusion, the limitations of the current researches on gossip and suggestion for future study are also discussed.
