1950年出生的Karen在音樂上的啟蒙不如哥哥Richard早，
直到14歲，Karen才發現了自己對音樂的熱愛與天分。
Carpenters兄妹兩，1965年成立了一個爵士樂團，
挾帶著Richard的創作、歌聲、琴藝，與Karen的爵士鼓，
很快的就走紅於流行音樂界。

平時就不忌口的Karen，23歲那年，
在一次拍照後被自己肥胖身型給嚇到，
便開始瘋狂、不恰當地使用各種偏方與器材減肥，
這麼一做，不但沒有幫到自己減重，
反而讓體重不斷加增，變成魁梧體型。
這個困擾她多年的問題，終於引爆！

花樣年華的32歲，Karen每週必須要治療厭食症五次，
雖然事業依然蒸蒸日上，她的身體與心靈終於敵不過厭食症，
在父母家中心臟衰竭死亡。
