The Red Light District of Amsterdam at nightfall.

By the way. I never found the plaza in the movie Daisy. Went through the whole city (which was quite big actually) but none looked right. & I missed the cue of the ‘church”! Man! Could’ve just targeted that. Oh well. maybe some other time.

Did I mention my hostel was in the Red Light District? Well, I didn’t know there were brothels on the same small street as our hostel ’til the last night that I was there. It just never occured to me to walk that way out to the major street so I never saw the brothels. Ganged up with a few mates who were also traveling solo from my dorm to go to the heart of the Red Light District (which is huge by the way) at night (meaning when the sun sets, approx. 10pm). Very interesting and scary. You could never really go there yourself. All three of us just knew that when we passed by the place in bright day light. Drug addicts, creepy people, gangsters, you name it. On top of that, there were the rows of prostitutes in their glow-in-the-dark undergarments in large neon-lighted display windows, trying to attract some “business offers”. I think this must be what Hell looks like (if there were such place that is). That being said, the canals of Amsterdam are pretty both in day and night, especially when the lights are on.
