日月潭的晨霧 - To see the morning mist over the Sun Moon Lake was one of the items for my to-do list for the year. The lake looked rather mysterious early in the morning ( I somehow woke up at 5:50am without an alarm clock). It feels like Switzerland's Zermatt in the morning. Probably because the Sun Moon Lake is also in the mountains.

The real colors of the mist over the lake.
Vew of the cubicles in early morning.
View of the umbrellas below from our hotel room.
After breakfast. From the hotel garden.
8:00AM - Now the lake is awake. The lake looks more like the Canadian lakes.
The color is suppose to be more blue if it hadn't rained for some days (mixing of mud/soil color).
On a sight-seeing boat that took us around the lakes. This lake still looks like a Canadian lake here. Actually the Sun Moon Lake is named so because of its shape viewed aerially. You would need a bit of imagination. :p
Many hotels and resorts were built around the lake but it's considerably less than you imagined. It's pretty difficult to get a licence to build soething around the lake nowadays, which is a good way to preserve the more "natural" and less commerical envionment for tourism. The buildings in the photos actually is a 5-star hotel now called the Lalu Hotel (涵碧樓). It's the most expensive hotel in this area. It's largely known for its service and the historic heritage. It was the summer palace of CKS. The whole lake as you see now, somewhat resembles the west lake of Hangzhou, which was done intentioally as CKS hoped to recreate his beloved home country scene in his new "back garden".
The lake is quite big. It's around 8 to 9 sq. km.
Very sunny day!
Visiting the temples by the lake. Many new hiking trails were built around the lake for ecotourists or people who simply wants to seek a place for relaxation.
There's a tiny island in the lake. It was supposed to be larger (?) decades ago. & It was originally a resting place for the ancesotrs of an aboriginal tribe in Taiwan. Then it was taken away and occupied by others until it was returned back to them again.
On the tiny island. You cannot cross over to the "real" island in the picture. There has been some plantations around the real island on these floating devices because it's suppose to make spawning for fish easier (to create an enviornment for them to spawn).
The Lalu Island.
When one is here, one has to try this special kind of way of cooking egg.
With mushroom, tea leaves,.. etc. This local "treat" has actually become quite famous. On a holiday, they sell an average of 3,000 eggs per day.
According to our boat guide, the eggs "usually" taste better when there's not a huge line-up for it. ;p
