"你忘了."
"我忘了什麼?"
"尋寶"
"我忘了什麼?"
"尋寶"
一場意外, 讓她面臨了人生的選擇.
一張藏寶圖, 帶她踏上了前往傳說中的香格里拉尋找心靈淨土的奇幻旅程.
Losing her dear son in a hit-and-run car accident, Ji-ling could not come to accept what had happened and could not move on. One day, she finds a treasure map that her son had drawn and embarked on a journey to a place called Shangri-La, in search of her own Shangri-La and finds the unexpected.
This is one of the most touching and beautiful film that I'd recommend for the year. When I first saw the trailer when I was researching about the cinema that was going to screen the film (it's a historical heritage site & an artsy cinema), I was attracted by the cinematography and music. We happened to find out they had a movie seminar right after...
the first screening of the day, so we got there to hear some stories behind the making of this film from the film director (丁乃箏) and the leading actress(朱芷瑩)and actor (吳中天).

The SPOT cinema (台北光點)once served as the American consulate in Taiwan before Taiwan was forced to resign from its position in the United Nations in 1971. For some years, after this place remains ruins until the Foundation of a Taiwanese corporation (台積電文教基金會) funded the restoration of this house and made it into a centre dedicated to arts and films.

The building was built around 1925 during the Japanese occupation era in American southern architectural style. There's a very nice cafe on the first floor and a very nice gallery/VIP room on the second floor.

Taipei House - SPOT cinema.

光點電影院 SPOT Cinema. Entrance to the cinema. The screening room in there is quite small and the screen is not big either. But some of the films screened here you just can't find them being screened in big cinemas.

We watched the film at 11:00 AM. The film ended around 12:35 and we went to the second floor for the movie seminar on "Finding Shangri-La".

The "VIP room" on the second floor of the Taipei House. It's normally not open to guests but can be reserved. The ground floor of the cinema has a very beautiful cafe too.

Beginning of the Movie Seminar at the gallery on the second floor of SPOT.

The leading actress talking about her experience with the making of this film and how she prepared for this role.

The film director shared with the audience:
- her background as a musical/drama stage producer/ actress; how she got involved with her first film productin (this film).
- her 1 month study at the New York Film Academy (working with all the other film directors from all over the world; being a female film director - carrying the filming equipment; different courses she took).
- how the found the child actor for the role of the son in Taipei and in the Tibetian tribe in Shangri-La (in Yunnan, China) - ask them to draw their home and have them tell her about their drawing (to see what they're thinking, their communication skill, how they look at people when others are talking to them or when they're talking to others, if they can be drawn to an imaginative situation)
- how she wanted to search for a child actor who is "real" and natural.
- their original script - inspiration from Greek epics and drama. & had ideas involving the Oedipus compelx and some complicated ideas there that might very well put the film on censored list so they had to abandon those ideas.
- their film originally included a scene with the Tibetian water burial ceremony (水葬) but that could put the film on censored list so they had to give up that idea too although they went through many troubles and paid large $ to get those filmed.
It was also fun to hear what she found about the kids in city and in rural areas. Kids in city, when they were asked to draw their home, they drew a rectangular box. Some didn't even draw a window or a door and only drew those when they were prompted. But kids in rural areas would be more elaborative and their drawn houses are all like huge mansions with elaborative column, door, chimney, nice gardens, etc. That just makes the kids in city look rather sad.
