We didn't get a pic of the famous HAIRY COOS in Scotland so we were hunting over the places for one to take a pic of. We finally found one right under the barracks blew up by the Highlanders who heard that their Bonnie Prince Charlie had left them to their own fate after the defeat on the battlefield of Culloden. Too bad the coo just didn't want to turn its head toward us! It didn't even bother to look up at us. It just went about its own business! We waited forever but yah.. that was just too bad.

Urquhart Castle by Loch Ness.

The Culloden battlefield where the last British civil war was fought. It was a war between the Highlanders (Scots) led by Bonnie Prince Charlie (Catholic) and the German (Protestant) king placed on the throne of England at the time. The Highlanders were butchered. The prince fled from the isles to France and lived a desolte life after abandoning his loyal troops to their fate. English troops swept through the countries and destroyed the Highland's way of life to prevent the people from rising up again.

People. This is where I’m getting married. lol.
The castle was just pretty viewed from all angles ‘tho the interior of the castle wasn’t super exciting. The castle is still a private castle (the owners still occassionally go to stay there). We could only go to places open for visitors.

Our guide warned us about eating our take-way fish and chips by the harbor ’cause he was a victim of the vicious seagulls that roam the area. He says the seagulls there are like the size of ostrich. They wear those kamikaze goggles above their eyes and they wait patiently above humans (eg. on a lamp pole) who just got freshly fried fish and chips from the nearby store for the right moment to plunge down (in the tora tora style) and snatch the food.

Souvenir from the Highlands.

Got on a coach to Glasgow right after our minibus took us back to Edinburgh. Said bye to all the great people I met on the tour. 3 days flew by just like that. Seriously hoped I had more time. Time passes so fast when one's having fun. =P

Glen Coe is also called the "Valley of Weeping" because of a tragic massacre that occurred here in 1692. On a sunny day like this, looking around the steep rocky hills around us, we tried to imagine the stormy night in the winter of 1692 when the clan of the MacDonalds attempted to escape from their murderers by climbing up the steep snow-covered mountains. Apparently, the place was said to be filled with the cries of those murdered or frozen to death when the moody Scottish weather kicks in.

Woke up early for the 3-day tour to the Highlands of Scotland. The weather didn't look too good. It was super misty/foggy.

So foggy that when we drove to the Forth Rail Bridge, we couldn't see the entire bridge! A bit of a disappointment. The bridge was one engineering master piece at the time of its construction.

Isle of Skye. Scotland.


My last trip for my stay in Europe ends with a week trip to Scotland. Went there last term for ISC Midterm trip to Edinburgh and New Lanark but the weather was really bloody. So glad that this time the sun was up for my entire trip! How often do you hear someone gets sunburned in Scotland? No complaints.
