Went to Vienna for a few days for  work. Have seen a lot and learnt a lot. When I was off work, I went about the city, searching and re-experiencing one of my favourite cities (& revisited Beethoven). This is my third time visting Vienna. It never fails to impress. Just as....(continue reading).

[ Figaro House, Vienna]

If you really want t literally translate the name of the place "Hundertwasserhaus" into English, I suppose it'll sound something like the title of this entry. The apartment block is occupied and not open to the public. But tourists flock to this place nevertheless just to see the exterior of the building and the nearby equally-crazy Kalke Village (which is really just another building). Imagine a more like Home Depot or IKEA kind of warehouse for the furnitures that were once used in the palaces and imperial functions. I think it's a pretty neat idea.Hapsburg Empress Maria Theresa founded this "lumber room of the monarchy" where furniture and other household items not need at the court will be deposited here. Went to Saltzburg as part of my trip from Bratislava to Vienna and to Salzburg before heading back to UK. I stayed for 2-3 days in Salzburg, the home of W.A. Mozart after coming to Salzburg from Vienna by train. So I had quite some time to explore the town. I basically went to the top of the surrounding "mountains" to view the city.

Nonnberg Convent.
The movie version (Julie Andrew) of the musical "The Sound of Music" was largly based in Salzburg.

Mozart's Birth Place.
Mozart, being a dead but famous person (I was a music major by the way), realy made himself a tourist attraction in the town. Being a big music student that I was, I certainly went to all the Mozart-related place, and was happy to see all those places appear in front of me once again when I went back to UK and watched the documentary: In Search of Mozart at our music department.

The palace was the home to the Hapsburg Emperor & Empress. I just LOVE the Viennese styles and everything about the Hapsburg (well.. maybe not ALL. lol).

Vienna -
This was a part of a 7-day (Bratislava-Vienna-Salzburg) trip I took in the end of March while I was studying in Birmingham(UK).

Vienna is so "artsy".. haha. FYI. I did not pay to go into that toilet.

I just thought the name of the park was sort of interesting. Well.. after all, Freud WAS from this place. Vienna is full of strange yet very talented people.

The art gallery is where many of Gustav Klimt's works are displayed.

Viennese Konditorei (kinds like sweets/afternoon tea kind of store with lots of chocolat, cakes, coffee, etc). This Konditorei is called "Aida". It was on one of the streets near the big cathedral where Mozart got married.
