　　到圖書館查《最新通俗美語詞典》，果然是句美語。它寫著：

What goes around comes around 有去的就有來的
　　據說這句典型的美國成語源於黑人的話語，確否待考。大意與中國俗語「一報還一報」相似，通常指做了壞事早晚會得到報應。說得玄一點，就是「因果報應」、「天道循環」……
　　這句成語也不一定用在罪惡的因果循環上。

　　裡面有兩個例子：

I know something was going to happen to him, because what goes around comes around.
我曉得早晚會有禍出在他身上，因為做惡事有惡報。

Probably the most frequently uttered observation about fashion is that what goes around comes around (and then keep going, and coming etc.)
關於服裝的時尚，最常聽到的一句話可能是「有去的就有來的」，這樣來來去去，循環不絕。

　　算是解決了疑惑。

　　阿五說的：「它非但是一部供翻譯美語時用的好詞典，而且是一部可以隨時翻閱，文筆生動，內容有趣的讀物……」雖然對美國沒有太大好感，但這部詞典似乎甚為吸引……

　　"What goes around comes around" 是甚麼意思呢？手頭和網上的辭典都查不著。同學仔說類似因果循環、種瓜得瓜，種豆得豆，甚至是報應。有這麼嚴重嗎？

　　在網上只能找到這些：

The American version, "What goes around comes around," refers to the way karma operates in the social world. As you treat people, so they will treat you, eventually if not soon. (The Phrase Finder > Discussion Forum)

　　看完了，依然不知道這句美語怎麼解。也許，全都是引伸意義，原義是甚麼都不重要了。

　　最後一著：查《最新通俗美語詞典》－－應該有收錄吧？

　　那天在 xanga 寫下了小說 The Chronicles of Narnia 的中譯後，隨即聽到何安達說：「六、七十年代香港已有人翻譯這套小說，當時叫做『那裡呀』－－很切合 Narnia 這個魔幻仙境；不像現在只翻作『納尼亞』。」

　　這叫：英雄所見略同！ =P

　　是港台節目《政壇新秀訓練班》，何安達任嘉賓。其中一位新秀提到：看過《追擊赤色十月》的中譯，覺得台灣翻譯得比香港好。

　　於是何安達舉了 Narnia 做例子：香港的翻譯其實也很不錯呢！

　　比起納尼亞，魔幻王國也許好一點。純粹音譯始終太過疏離，逗不起興趣來。今個學期的「文學翻譯」將會提到如何翻譯名稱；雖然我沒有報讀，但會儘量跑去旁聽。
